Best Buy For Business Joins with Cardiac Science to Help Physician Offices Overcome IT Challenges

Partnership to help ease and accelerate adoption of new medical technologies for small-to-mid-sized medical offices

Bothell, WA – July 23, 2010 – Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) unit Best Buy For Business and Cardiac Science Corporation [NASDAQ:CSCX] today announced an alliance to help physicians overcome the medical technology challenges that impede rapid adoption of connected medical technologies.  Best Buy For Business serves small and medium businesses and provides a wide array of computing products and expert information technology (IT) support services.  Cardiac Science Corporation is a global leader in automated external defibrillator (AED) and diagnostic cardiac monitoring devices.
The partnership is an important pillar in the business unit’s strategy to focus on markets with the strongest need and growth potential.

“Healthcare reform incentivizes physicians to adopt medical technologies that network with electronic medical record systems, and there is a great unmet opportunity for IT expertise in the small and mid-size medical office,” said Glen Swanson, vice president of the Business Customer Group at Best Buy.  “Our relationship with Cardiac Science will enable us to more effectively serve tens of thousands of physicians who are seeking support for their IT needs.”

The Best Buy For Business team will help physician offices choose computing and networking products which will allow utilization of Cardiac Science medical device purchases, including products such as CareCenter MD, a new PC-based diagnostic workstation, HeartCentrix, an EMR-device connectivity solution for Cardiac Science, and ECG, stress, and Holter products. Practices also may utilize Best Buy’s Geek Squad team of trained IT experts to install and support these computer and networking products.

“Cardiac Science customers who want IT sales and service support can now turn to a Best Buy For Business team specifically trained in Cardiac Science products,” said Dave Marver, Cardiac Science president and chief executive officer. “Physicians can concentrate on providing the best patient care, knowing they have the best technological and medical device support available to them.”
