MINNEAPOLIS, January 11 – The Best Buy Children’s Foundation is proud to unveil its 2008 Scholarship Program, which will award $2.75 million to graduating high school seniors across the U.S. Students have until February 15, 2008 to complete an online application at www.bestbuy.com/scholarships, and winners will be announced in May, 2008.
This year, the program will award 1,500 scholarships, at $1,500 each. Additionally, 51 students – one from each state where Best Buy has a physical store, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico– will receive a $10,000 national scholarship for exceptional demonstration of community service.
Winners will be selected based on their outstanding commitment to and involvement in community service or work experience, along with a solid academic performance. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. or Puerto Rico school, and be graduating high school seniors with plans to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocation technical school in the U.S. or Puerto Rico no later than fall 2008. Applicants must also live within a 75-mile radius of a Best Buy store.
